Can anyone suggest somewhere near Braithwaite for a bit of easy climbing. Now that's going to sound like a bit of stupid question, so let me elaborate. I've just got hold of a harness which fits my 4 and 6 year-olds. They previously enjoyed scrambling around on the rocks by Rydal Water, so I'm looking for something

* that lets them have fun without scaring them off. mod or easier.
* Certainly not long - 8-10 metres tops so I can talk to them.
* Walk-in compatible with a 4-year old (ideally without driving from Braithwaite too). She walked up Barrow last year, but that doesn't mean she's going to do all of that and climb, nor do I want to carry her brother and the rack that far!
* ideally escapable
* ideally with a nice easy descent

I presume you mean Braithwaite in the Lakes. If so, there is a very pleasant easy angled slab of about 8 metres height right next to the road that goes along the south side of Thirlmere lake. About two minutes walk in from the pay and display car park. This slab fits all your requirements and is absolutely perfect for teaching kids to climb.
