Just spent a morning looking into climbing insurance.

I looked at Dog Tag, BMC, Snowcard, STA, Sports Cover Direct and World Nomads.

And the winner..... Snow Card

Annual Multi Trip policy with each trip up to 90 days.

Worldwide inc USA

Max Adventure - covers: Abseiling
Big Wall Climbing - multi-pitch, multi-day
Bouldering
Trad climbing - Single & Multi pitch
Sport Climbing - Single & Multi pitch
Trekking up to 6000m

No cover for baggage, electrics and excess £250 (these can be added)

Cost - £280

Why didn't you look at Austrian alpine club?

I've just worked mine out - annual European Ski & Climb came to exactly the same as my BMC insurance - but without baggage, cancellation, equipment etc. I'll be staying with BMC then.

Depends where youre going. The AAC cover for medical expenses is pretty small. Deffo wouldn't recommend going to the USA on AAC cover. We used dogtag for AK last year and wasn't too expensive. I've heard they can be slow on claims though

BMC won't cover more than 45 days in USA.

What is harder to research is the service (ie sorting out the hassle without unwanted extra stress) if you have an accident.
