I went to Snowdonia again last weekend for what I hoped would be a chance to sample some of the great mountaineering days this place has to offer. I don't rock climb to a high standard and I'd say I would need a hoist to get up an E1 or even perhaps an HVS these days but I am perfectly happy to potter around on the lower grades. With this in mind I aimed for Amphitheatre Buttress and The Atlantic Slab and they didn't disappoint. The story is here...http://howlingmist.blogspot.ie/2016/04/snowdoniaamphitheatre-buttress-and.h...
Thanks, Stephen

A lovely spot. It was open (well unlocked) so we had a quick look inside. Very nice.

AB is one of my favourite routes. I have always climbed it by descending from Craig Eigiau first. I have often though that camping in Cwm Eigiau and climbing it from there would be somehow more satisfying.

It would be a lovely place to camp with lots of flat spots and easy access to water. Might even be worth sneaking in a fishing rod

I have camped there a few times. However, I really like camping on top. There are several nice sites along the main ridge. I suppose the ideal option would be to get my Sherpa to carry up the tent, set up camp and prepare a meal ready for our arrival after climbing AB!
