Hi, Can anyone recommend any climbing walls close to Stevenage (bouldering) - the crag search feature seems to bring up ones in schools etc, ? Down for a few days for work. Many thanks.

Tad poor overall, bit like stevenage in general.
I would look at when the fast trains are into London. Off at Finsbury park and then its a short walk to the castle.

For Bouldering it is either the Castle in Finsbury park or Big Rock in Milton Keynes. There is some pretty good quality roped climbing at The Lock in Harlow, but the routes are not reset enough.

I'd say there's quite a market for a decent wall in Stevenage.

Herts Uni has a wall at Hatfield which is a short distance down the A1.

As of a couple of years ago it is still physically there but not in use which is a bit of a shame. That said it's not that great by modern standards - ~5 lines, all top roping, no movable holds, quite polished... It would be OK for getting started on though.

Trains run non-stop every 30 minutes and take 19 minutes. No contest.

Thanks all - I will investigate a trip into the big smoke for the Castle then.
