Hi, we saw the Cockermouth team heading up to Gable yesterday and I believe someone had taken a fall on Gable crag. Does anyone have an update on the injured climber?

Word is they are back home now, think the fallen climber got a broken/injured leg and went to A&E.

That was on the Napes, the day before there was a faller on Gable Crag, who apparently was less badly hurt. Cockermouth team dealt with that one, whereas Tophet wall was Wasdale.

Glad no-one was permanently hurt. Though a broken leg must be really nasty.

Tophet Wall is a quite a serious route for the grade. I remember there being a completely unprotected 10-15m on the second guidebook pitch. And the start is quite technical with potential for a ground-fall (?). The traverse is no pushover either.

Just a bit off topic, and not suggesting at all that this is what happened, but it's ridiculous that Bowfell Buttress now gets the same grade as TW. If you were a VDdiff leader and went from one to the other thinking you'd broken into HS then you'd be in for a real shock. Main Wall is another case in point.
