I’m very new to rock climbing and have started taking regular trips to the
Elan valley at Craig Cnwch. I’m attempting to match the climbs online with
the ones I’m currently doing at the crag.

There is a photo I took of the wall. I have coloured some of the routes and
closely as I can from memory. Do any of you know the names of these routes on
UKClimbing? Or know if a way I can find out?

Craig Cnwch

Thank you in advance for any assistance

Kind regards,
James

Im going back tomorrow so I'll get some better photos of the routes. I'll be sure to post them on here. Sports climbing there is good. Although it's the only place outside where I have done any sports climbing so far. So don't really have anything to compare it to.

Hi James

The reason that there's no topo on here, or indeed anywhere else, is because Craig Cnwch is included in a new definitive regional guide which is well on the way; it's currently being page set and expected out later this year.

Difficult to be 100% exact due to the photo angle, but here goes as far as your lines are concerned. From L to R:

[1] Blue - Simon Bolivar F6b. This doesn't go to the top as you show due to suspect rock, but ends at a single ring l/o.
[2] Yellow - Bring Me Sunshine F6b+
[3] Red - Ffydd Mewn Ffrithiant F6a via the borehole, F5+ straight up just right of the first bolt. Name is Welsh for Faith in Friction.
[4] Blue - Gadjo Dilo F5. Name is Romany for Crazy non-Gypsy. Again ends at a single bolt l/o below suspect rock.
[5] Yellow - Far From Any Road F5, the best of the trio on Bwtres y Chwarel/

Quartz Pebble Wall is virtually on the right of your photo, the wide-angle of which is quite impressive btw. You should now hopefully be able to work out what's what on your next visit.

HTH

Hello Dave,

That's great help! Thank you.

I went back today and got some better photos. I think i have labeled the Abseil Wall correctly now.
