It may have been done before but hows about recognising stunning cover versions of iconic tracks.
Here is a start
What would Elvis have thought of this? I infinitely prefer this version.

Three rather different, but excellent, cover versions are Hendrix's All Along The Watchtower (probably the best cover version of them all), Sade's Why Can't We Live Together and Whitesnake's Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City.

Go discover, if you don't know them already. It won't be wasted time.

Controversial maybe, but I think the Devo version of Satisfaction is fantastic...

I've got to thank you for this one. I actually laughed out loud. Risible.

I can't stand Ronson either (saw him headlining No 6 last year, walked out) so I guess we won't be crossing paths at any festivals this summer. Enjoy your posts though

I love it when someone does a cover of an old song and my kids say "how do you know the words to this Mum?" as I'm mumbling along.

Most recently with the Jonas Blue/Tobtok version of Tracey Chapman's iconic Fast Car. I think I like the electronic DJ version better

I do prefer the Gary Jules version over the original by Tears for Fears, if I'm honest.

That's reminded me of a classic covers album (not quite as serious, electronic cha-cha-cha by the genius that is Atom TM), including this beauty:

Nirvana - Love Buzz, originally by Shocking Blue, though Nirvana popularised it of course.

Foo Fighters' version of Baker Street is pretty good too.

The Band Played Waltzing Matilda as covered by The Pogues is better than their much simplified cover of Dirty Old Town, though less known.

Johnny Cash covering Nine Inch Nails' Hurt is also great, as is the rest of his covers album.
