I'm looking to upgrade my CX bike to a disc front brake. I've identified a suitable fork and a couple of candidate disc-compatible wheels. I want to use the Avid BB7 mechanical disc brake, which comes with a six-bolt rotor, but the wheels I'm looking at have centre lock hubs. One option would be to buy a centre-lock rotor, leaving me with a redundant Avid rotor. Another option appears to be to get a centre lock to six-bolt adaptor, but there appear to be two Shimano ones available - the RTAD05 and the RTAD10 - and I'm confused as to which would be the correct one to get. The RTAD10 seems to use some kind of c-ring which looks pretty non-standard, whereas the RTAD05 has the normal lock ring that you tighten using a BB wrench.

The two adaptors are linked below:

Grateful for any help that can be offered!

I think that both the ones that you have linked would work fine, the second one tightens with the same tool that you use for cassettes. I use these on my cx bike with Avid rotors on Shimano wheels, they come in different colours too if you like a bit of bling!

In your situation (and I have been in your situation very recently, with a full wheel and groupset upgrade to my x bike) - I would choose wheels with 6 bolt hub. There are quite a few options.... Which wheel were you planning to get?

Part of what tipped it for me is that 6 bolt is more common so there are more rotor options, I assume it is likely to become standard. They are also slightly lighter I believe, look a bit neater, and easy to fit with a torq screwdriver.
