I was thinking of climbing at shining clough this weekend. I've read that its best after a prolonged period of dry weather. Has anyone been there recently? Do you think it would be ok for this weekend?

It doesn't take much drainage off the moor and dries surprisingly fast this time of year, so should be dry for weekend. I'd expect a few routes to be a bit grubby as they probably haven't been done yet this year but most things see enough traffic to stay quite clean.

If the forecast wind is correct then it may be a bit sheltered from the Easterly on Sat and hence a bit midgey, so I'd wait until Sunday when the wind is coming more from the North. Laddow could be a good bet for Saturday

Not been for a couple of years but definitely take anti midge stuff when you go. When I went past it on Wednesday it looked dry and there's not been much rain this week in the north peak area so it should be nice.
