I want to send a compact camera at a reasonable price in a reasonable time. i know that those terms are relative, and my parameters may not be someone else's.So to arrive in ~7 days or so, and not be costing a major proportion of the value of the camera.
So who might be the best to approach? UPS?Royal Mail? Bogota direct?
Is it out of the realms of possibility?

I used DHL to send a passport from Sudan to the UK once and it was pretty good, very quick (although I paid for the fastest service). Cost was the equivalent of about £30 but that was their most expensive option and got there in 3 business days.
I recall they have pretty clear price and time options on the website for the international shipping so you might do well to take a look at them.

I think traditionally one wraps it in a condom and asks a courier to swallow it. I think that was transporting cameras to Colombia, or did I mix something up?

A second vote for DHL from me, I've used them several times and always found their service to be very good.
