I am currently in Nicotera in southern italy. Does anybody know of any sport climbing crags within an hour of this area? I have searched hard and strugggled to find info on southern italian crags? Thanks
There's a small crag in Caronte near Lamezia Terme. Haven't been there myself. Otherwise a slightly longer drive to the Ionica side of Calabria, there's a crag in Stilo. Many more routes from 4s to 7s. You can find the topo and directions on the website below. It'll be quicker taking the motorway even though the distance is longer from where you are.
Do you know of any climbing shops around this area at all? Or down south towards San Vila Giovanni as I will be heading that way tomorrow? I am looking to get a guide book for sicily before heading onto the island?
