I have a DIY project at home. I have a ceiling light and I want to tie off the end of the decorative rope with a knot. If you can imagine how a climbing nut is looped over and then swaged together. But instead of using a metal sewage there is a type of sailing way of using another piece of 1 mm rope to do the swaging. Anyone know what this knot with the 1mm rope is called?

Do you mean a splice? Or whipping?

Dunno, but you could just bind it with 1mm and finish as usual? About 5-10 binds from finishing either end, bind over a loop, insert tail, pull tail through 5-10 binds.

You can sew accessory cord so try sewing the overlapped rope ends together.

Then 1mm cord is not structural.

Add a Turks Head or Mathew Walker or you could even dog's cock the end (back splice) perhaps with a Monkey's Fist at the end if the dogs cock doesn't look too easy or neat.
