I have a good friends 40th coming up and would like to get her a decent bottle of red. Trouble is shes vegan. Can i get a decent bottle of vintage red which is vegan friendly?

Co-op generally seems to have at least a few vegan wines (certainly of the rose variety) in my experience. Expect to have to pick through the labels of everything as wine seems to be one of the things that no one seems to label as vege or vegan.

Ah have just noticed the word "vintage". On that front I have no idea being more of the swill it down type wine drinker...

I am feeling very diim here. Isn't all wine vegan? (Unless the yeast counts as an animal).
In reply to BusyLizzie:

Various animal based products are used as fining agents.

Lots of wines (and beers) use finings from fish swim bladders to help them clear.

A lot of fine reds use egg whites to fine.

Under the new allergy labelling regulations Isinglass has a special exemption as in theory it completely separates from the liquid that it is fining.
