Just for fun, if anyone cares to try it and share their results;

http://www.celebritytypes.com/political-coordinates/test.php

My political coordinates are:

5.6% Right, completely in the middle between Communitarian and Liberal

In reply to Big Ger:
50% left and 40% liberal. This probably isn't going to surprise you much...!

Nonetheless, I would have put you further right on the basis of your posts on here - unless of course you only say that **** to stir...

8.3% Left, 13.9% Liberal for me - about the same as Bill Clinton.

In reply to Big Ger:

100% Don't know
 doz 21 Jul 2016
In reply to Big Ger:

100% leftist liberal with extreme right leaning autocratic tendencies...I am now thoroughly confused and going back to bed
 Dax H 21 Jul 2016
In reply to Big Ger:

27.8% right, 8.7% Liberal.
I was expecting to be further right.
 John_Hat 21 Jul 2016
In reply to Big Ger:

13% left, 47% liberal...
 john arran 21 Jul 2016
In reply to John_Hat:

27.8% Left, 61.1% Liberal

Sounds about right
 galpinos 21 Jul 2016
In reply to Big Ger:

27.8% Left, 27.8% Liberal, whatever that means.

Some of the binary questions I hadn't actually come to a decision on so had to plump for whichever at that moment.

In reply to Big Ger:

I'm the next square over from Barack Obama. I'll take that over any of those other loons.
 jkarran 21 Jul 2016
In reply to Big Ger:

36% Left
72% Liberal

Which is quite different to the result I get on the slightly more American focused Political Compass but at least it's in the same quadrant.

No surprises there
 Flinticus 21 Jul 2016
In reply to Big Ger:

44.4% left
25% liberal

About midway on a line joining Clinton with Obama.

I might run in the next US democratic nominations.

2.8% left, 36% liberal
abseil 21 Jul 2016
In reply to Big Ger:

A cross between Gaddafi and Attila the Hun.
In reply to Big Ger:

30.6% Left
22.2% Liberal

More or less what I expected

It might be good fun but is there any meaning (like some science that backs this sort of thing up). Political Compass or Coordinate charts or whatever the questions seem to break rules of good design in social science and the formula mechanisms behind the plot are often secret and almost certainly bullshit. The famous current figures we compare to never took the test and we have no idea how their placements were made.

Some questions were almost unanswerable. Caps on wages I had to say yes to, but I would much rather it be high taxes instead.

In reply to Big Ger:

8.3% Left, 8.3% Liberal... I always thought I was "centrist".
 Lord_ash2000 21 Jul 2016
In reply to Big Ger:

41.7% Right, 16.7% Communitarian

Expected to be more liberal but probably about as right as I expected.

Me too.

Why is no one in that big green square?

Because there are no Stalinists in the house.

In reply to hokkyokusei:
Actually partly because the table is produced by a biased group of researchers who were said to have a vested interest in making new labour look right wing. One way might be to get answers coming out as liberal left compared to how they place Blair etc on the chart. We have little idea how the answers relate to how far left or right one appears on the scale.

You do realise you can give any of 5 different responses, depending on your level of certainty? For troublesome questions I would leave a neutral answer.

Now why would an American firm do that?

50.0% Left, 61.1% Liberal

In reply to john arran:

Yep, and I used the sliding scale for every answer. My quandary over that question was because (IMO) mega-salaries depress wages elsewhere, and treasury receipts as a proportion of high individual incomes (in the UK) are so low that there is no net benefit to the wider economy through infrastructure development, healthcare, education etc. If (and as seems likely) tax rates for the mega-salaried will remain low, capping could still free up cash for salaries to increase in the middle of the bell curve where most of an economy's productivity lies.

Interestingly, I took another version of this quiz a few years ago (political compass), and the results were the same. The other website told me that I'm at similar coordinates to Ghandi, and it also informed me that in real life he was a bit of a see you next Tuesday. Remarkably accurate!
 FactorXXX 23 Jul 2016
In reply to Big Ger:

5.6% Right
2.8% Liberal

Haven't got a clue what it means though!

He was also a racist, so when he did it they must have asked him the wrong questions to get a score like yours.
 GreatApe 23 Jul 2016

Aye, the blurb about him showed he treated his son really badly. Quite at odds with the general Ghandi image.

In reply to GreatApe:

Historically irrelavnt info though isn't it. Like Churchill's more tw*tish moments. They were the right arseholes for their time.
 timjones 23 Jul 2016
In reply to Big Ger:

Confused by the nature of the questions.

a). Capping the wages of CEOs and bankers

b) Taxing industry to protect the environment

Why particularly reference CEOs, bankers and industry?

If you believe in capping wages and taxes to protect the environment then surely they should apply to everyone?

For that reason I lost interest in the allegedly unbiased quiz at question 26
 Fraser 23 Jul 2016
In reply to Big Ger:

2.8% Left, completely in the middle between Communitarian and Liberal.
 Offwidth 23 Jul 2016
In reply to Big Ger:

Because Political Compass was, critique is available for the people who produced that and this new site seems to produce remarkably similar results despite the front page denials of any connection. It must be using a very simlar methodology. Why do companies do anything?... obviously to make money... popular inane "free" entertainment on the web is a good earner.
