My wife and I had a cracking day on Esk Buttress in the Lake District on Saturday (23rd July 2016) - there was no one else on the cliff all day! We did Red Edge and Central Pillar. At the end of the bold 5b pitch on Central Pillar and before the
5b traverse pitch, there is a very large block just to the left of the belay (as you're looking in towards the rock). The block is just above the sloping ledge where you belay. The block appears to have cracks all around it, and it sounds pretty hollow. It's difficult to tell how stable it is, but I wouldn't want to test it. It would be wise to be very careful, hence posting this message to spread the news to take care.
