Feeling nostalgic for my childhood cartoons, cartoons which were on TV at the time rather than cartoons of my time, I searched for this cartoon, and the grumpy bear is still just as good.

I think I prefer cartoons from this era (if I had to choose), the mixture of quirky logic, and hand painted animation and a slower pace to them, allowing more time to absorb what's happening I think, has 'a certain charm lacking in later cartoons which are much faster and more uniform in their artwork. Possibly it being a new art form ment people 'let lose' with their creativity, too.

I dare say the very end is sexist, but it's of it's time, & not a part of the story line.

Tex Avery... The man was a genius! I loved watching his cartoons when I was a kid.

I remember watching Bad Luck Blackie (somewhat unfortunate name there) and genuinely thinking I might suffocate from laughing so much! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x39wwu2?GK_FACEBOOK_OG_HTML5=1

That's a brilliant cartoon, I like how there's a certain kind of logic which only works in 'cartoon land'.
