Apparently my provider(O2) are having problems with the mast serving my area and I can't send or receive SMS. O2 say it might be out of action until 14th.

For various reason I DO need SMS and O2 advised me to use TU Go but unfortunately I'm locked out for 24 hours because I forgot my password.

Anyone know if there any short term alternatives?

Village where I live has no O2 reception. They gave me a box to connect to my broadband. Ask if they will give you one, or lend you one. It creates a small cell in your house - signal doesn't go far but you get the full cellular service.

I use Watsapp a lot as it's free if you're in a wifi zone. The sound quality is excellent as well; much clearer than on a phone call.
