It all depends where you are headed to and what you want to do. Some areas have mountain huts but mostly people use motels - super 8 and other cheap rate places. bear in mind that many campsites will have shut down for the winter and the days are short and cool/cold. Snow has already fallen in some places on the high tops above 3500m, and whilst this will come and go by October there will be some continuous cover. If you are thinking about Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park this is at 7500 feet (2300 metres) so you can expect cold weather and cold nights.
