I get a reaction like that to ordinary insect bites. Not sure why. Apparently not serious. I guess yours might be different though, hard to tell from a picture.

Looks like a horsefly bite - although when they bite me the whole area normally swells up massively too.

I had similar looking damage after getting hogweed sap (common, not giant) on my shoulder and then catching some rays. Much hogweed about?

Or it could be a vile horsefly.

I cannot deny a strange feeling of pride in my rancid foot. It takes a lot to disgust my wife, but this did.

Quite an accolade by the sound of it.

When it does fall off I'd have it stuffed- would be a good talking point if you put it on a plaque above the mantle piece 'stags head' style.
