Does anyone have any experience of using the ferry with a bike?
Is a bike free with a footpassenger ticket?
I'm looking at Southampton to Cowes

From the Red Funnel website: Bicycles are carried free of charge on Red Funnel's vehicle ferry service between Southampton and East Cowes.

A word or caution though, when returning to your bike after the crossing you need to be careful. When crossing to cycle around the island I returned to my bike with my cleated shoes on and went A over T on the very slippery deck. Much to the amusement of the disembarking car drivers.

What comes steaming and splashing out of Cowes?

I'll get my coat

Cheers

Hope to park car somewhere this side in Southampton and use bike to get to campsite on IOW. This way I should save a few quid.

We went from Lymington about 10 years ago and cycled with camping kit
All good. it's a good trip.

Agreed decks very slippery even in spds. Fortunately bikes didn't slip over but we did walk them on.

Have fun.
