Surely that varies from year to year. Last year that time was one of the driest periods of weather of the year.

Timeless Flight at the wanneys should be OK as it stands proud with little seepage, it might be an idea to replace the threads though.

If its been dry Command Performance at Simonside is worth a visit and Childhoods End at nearby Ravensheugh.

Ned Kelly and Second Born at Callerhues also worth looking at but can have a bog beneath it.

Master Blaster will be filthy unless the usual top-roping bellends have been wasting their time on it. Get a mate to clean it first.

Endless Flight might be better on the sidewall as it gets a bit of evening sun but the left-hand start and holds on the left might be green. Again get a mate on abseil.

Both are likely to be a lot harder than the steady clip-up that is The Tube.

First Born and Original Sin at Kyloe Out are safe bets. Gauletier at Bowden and Overdrive at Goats are only E3 but hard enough.

Generally The County isn't renowned for lots of safe, clean routes at those grades although of course there are exceptions. Most at that standard are probably safest as highballs.

Forgot to add Lost Cause and Outward Bound at Back Bowden, Lost Cause is safe with some safe air time if you come off.

A supplementary word of caution........ The top of Endless Flight is quite tricky and the gear poor. The top of the Tube is a well protected jug fest by comparison. If you blew the top of EF then it could be both spectacular and very painful. I'm not sure how good the cellphone coverage is..... (And someone suggested Second Born!).

Some safer harder routes (some already mentioned); Over the Edge at Simonside, Lost Cause, Original Sin (If you trust your belayer) Childhoods End, Hard Reign, Outward Bound, Sandrider, High T, Overdrive and Underpass.

Solo Russet Groove first.

Corby's Crag is worth a visit - sunny, sheltered and I would have thought also quick drying. The main wall has good routes from HVS-E4 which are generally safe once you've done the starts.

Good photo. At least you didn't fall off the groove bit!
