Was just wondering how accurate the forecast normally is for Hoy, and if there's any particular websites I should check? Also any advice in general, was thinking of heading up next weekend to try and do it! Thanks

Ordinary route on the old man, I assume is your ambition.

Took us 24 hours to get there from London. 4 hours to climb the route and get back to our packs. I doubt much time could be shaved off this.

It is a good adventure route, but not one to get wrong I'd say.

Have fun, be safe.

Met office weather forecast is usually not bad for Hoy. However, be aware of incoming weather fronts and that they might not hit as scheduled. Having said which, weather has been not at all bad this year and if you get a breeze you'll escape the worst of the midgies.

Good luck and enjoy.

60m ropes as opposed to 50's make the abseiling from the top much quicker.
