Inspired by the other thread

I love the slightly smokey slightly burnt tang of an autumn evening. Like the essence of the embers from the summer just gone.

Any other opinions?

The valley where we live starting to smell of wood smoke as stoves are lit for the first time

Running down footpaths. What's that peppery smell? Is it one plant or just the autumn ambience?

To me it definitely smells of woodsmoke from the burner in our converted horsebox, we lit it for the first time the other night and it'll be the only thing keeping us warm all winter now. And that damp earth smell. Maybe throw in a bit of wet dog.
