How does one go about being appointed an executor of an estate? (in Scotland). I've spent the last hour searching but everything I've found assumes that the executor has already been appointed.

Many thanks

In reply to Cobbler:

The deceased appoints their executors at the time they write their Will.

You can't be appointed after their death.

If the deceased has died Intestate and you believe you should have control of handling the Estate (eg you are a close relative) you can apply for Letters of Administration.
