Following on from my earlier thread, can anyone tell me the safest, easiest way to clean an electrical motor that cannot be removed from within the "chimney" in which it is housed?

Is it safe to steam clean it?

Maybe electric contact cleaning spray. I imagine it would dissolve the grease allowing it to run out the bottom and any excess solvent will evaporate rapidly. My only fear is if the motor has greased bearings.

Yes. Thanks. I've been asking around and steam cleaning is a No-No.

As the product would be manufactured to food hygiene ratings I'd imagine greased bearings might have to be sealed, but I'm happy to be proven wrong!
