Planning on first trip to Mallorca - family of four going out, for a week, want to rent an apartment or apart hotel type thing as a family base, with me and possibly one other hiring road bikes and going for a blast the odd day here and there

Any recommendations on where to stay?

Had a week there in September with little kids, self catering apartment in Playa de Muro - BQ Alcudia Sun Village. Nice enough, but a bit smaller than I expected.

If you're going self-catering, try and stay somewhere near one of the bigger supermarkets - the smaller Spar ones are much more expensive.

Puerto Pollensa the best place to stay on all counts - best for families (big, safe beach, sensible nightlife etc) and best for biking (choice of mountains or flat, loads of bike shops, twice weekly guided rides). Choice of villas with private pools (try irentmyvilla.com), hotels or apartments. *

Avoid procyclehire in PP these days - a bit big for their own good so standards have slipped. Lots of other options.

*Alcudia very similar but I always find it a bit more "kiss me quick" seasidey.

i stayed in puerto pollensa in May and loved it. You forget to mention post-ride pints in Sir Brad's mate's cafe.
