Packing for Tenerife and I hear that they have had a lot of rain recently and the mosquitoes are quite bad. My bathroom cabinet options are 50% deet or smidge. The deet I know is effective but it's also horrible stuff and as I'm not trying to avoid malaria on this trip I'm inclined to avoid it. Smidge is great with midges but I'm interested to know how it performs against their bigger cousins. I know it says it repels mozzies on the bottle but does it really?
Thanks!

In reply to Snoweider:

From what I can see Smidge contains Picaridin, which is known to be effective at repelling mosquitoes.

In reply to Snoweider:

We go to Tanzania for a fortnight every year (flying tonight, as it happens). We've tried various alternatives to Deet (including Smidge) over the last 8 years or so, but we now reluctantly concede that nothing else seems to work.
