I have done the pyg track in november but was no snow and crib goch in summer. I want to eventually do crib goch in snow conditions what are some good routes in snowdon first to learn Ice axe and crampon skills?

In reply to Ben93:

Not sure that you want to 'learn the ropes' while high up in the mountain.

Probably better to find yourself a nice safe place to practise.

Take a look at videos like youtube.com/watch?v=YSoUS6t2cqc&
And practise on safe ground. Appreciate its difficult with the patchy snow we get but i learn/practised ice axe arrest on llangynidr moors and traversing slopes/walking with crampons on the side of the A470 at storey arms. Just make sure theres a good concave run off with no rocks below. Youll be surprised how knackering it can be 1st time walking in snow.

Stiff boots are best way to go.
