can anybody recommend any routes for me and my old man to do that would involve some interesting access via water. Preferably North Wales area but still open for suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

There's no canoe-specific lines here (Guernsey), but a canoe would get you onto lines when the tide is in which would be a pain/impossible to get to otherwise. Canoeing here in general is good and interesting due to the tidal range and currents.

Okay, not in North Wales, but how about an unique (as far as Wales is concerned) climbing venue; a tidal island, only accessible by canoe/ boat for 3 hours or so on either side of HW and with a wealth of good lower grade climbs on excellent hard sandstone: Ynys Lochtyn

Access by canoe is interesting along a rocky coastline with numerous sea caves and bays, from either Cwm Tydu to the north or from Llangrannog to the south (which is closer to the island). In summer months, be prepared to share sea space with seals, a resident dolphin population and occasional harbour porpoises.

The Devil's Slide (HS 4a) if you're a strong paddler.

Church Rock in Broadhaven Bay requires a boat.

Open canoe/sit on top makes landing slightly easier than a sit in kayak but there's a lot of sharp stuff so be careful.

For a winter or summer mountaineering/walking expedition, how about canoeing in to Suilven?: https://www.glenmorelodge.org.uk/cat-10-Open%20Canoeing/course-281-suilven-canoe-expedition-intro-5-...

If you are looking for rock climbing, how about canoeing in to Carnmore from the west, and climbing Red Scar Entry, Dragon &/or Gob? http://www.climbthemunros.co.uk/dundonnell_and_fisherfield.php
