Is their any utility to the angular shape. My uninformed first impressions is that the sharp angles would make the helmet wear faster on the 'points'.

Also wouldn't a round helmet potentially be stronger and also better for deflecting rocks off it / your head away?

I believe it is a stealth helmet which deflects radar.

'Stealth" helmet?? Well I could spot it quite easily -but perhaps the design is to deflect radar signals on MOD property perhaps?
