Does anyone use Training Peaks?

I've been using Strava Premium for years but one of the things that has really irked me is the lack of functionality to actually plan a long term training strategy. I do this myself with a Google spreadsheet and it works ok - I can plug in my main races for the year and work out periodisation based on these, but its not ideal and is quite a manual process.

Its a bit low tech though and I'd like something that's a bit more specialised. I've just signed up for a test of Training Peaks which seems to fit the bill but wanted to get other people's experiences of it. I won't be using it with a coach either, which I understand is a big benefit to it.

I'm almost exclusively a trail runner and all my races will be mountain trail races or ultras - is it suited for this kind of training?

Not much help. Played with it a couple of times but I'm not really that race or event focused so it seems a bit OTT. Started C2 rowing recently so maybe that will change as Strava doesnt integrate at all with Concept 2 power data or logbook or indeed indoor rowing. There are plenty of YouTube videos of people using it to a fairly high level but I think I'm lacking the required OCD genes to get into this properly.
