I'm heading to the Atlas in Morocco in January. Does anybody have any experience of the refuges above Imlil. Which is better? Any difference between them? Seems strange they are right beside each other.
Also anyone in the area 22 to 27 January interested in teaming up for AD routes, lower grade ice?

Ok, to clear up any confusion first. Neltner refuge is the old name for the CAF Toubkal refuge. Mouflons du Toubkal is the other Toubkal refuge. These are my impressions from a stay at each in late spring.

CAF is smaller and more like an alpine hut, Mouflons is larger and more like a resort structure. CAF seems busier, Mouflons seems quieter. CAF suffers from backpacker types acting like it is an urban youth hostel, no etiquette. Mouflons is more mountaineer types with proper hut etiquette. CAF has blankets on request, Mouflons has blankets as a matter of course.

So CAF is cosier but noisier, though I expect backpacker idiots might be thin on the ground in winter.
