If I buy a certain travel insurance and get into trouble.

Human lives, we are not worth much are we!!!#~#

Just out of interest, how much does the BMC payout if you have a serious injury?

How long will £25,000 last if you need care? (Not long)

Insurance what a total scam. LOL

Is this £25k in compensation if say you can't work/need your house modifying or for your nearest and dearest if you're killed or is it for medical bills?
My travel insurance itemises these things and offers millions for medical bills but little for compensation. So they'll make sure I survive and get home but I'd have to sort out the mess on my own after that.

Doubt it that simple. You really need to wade through the policy and often know what to look forward to.

Repatriation costs?
Overseas emergency treatment?
Long term overseas?
What types of injuries and illnesses?

Usually you see a massive figure that no real circumstances would cover but then they missed out something vital like repatriation or treatment in a country covered by the e111 (not sure how that stands now, changed a couple of years ago a bit).

You are always better checking with a specialist service if you have a specialist need. Getting you down from. High glacier and repatriated with your gear? BMC should answer, most won't have a clue.

If you want life insurance why not buy that instead of misinterpreting the purpose of travel insurance. Hint: the clue's in the name.

It's travel insurance, not life insurance.

If this is a major concern to you then you probably already have a decent life policy?

I wouldn't call travel insurance a scam. But you do have to read the various offers and conditions carefully. One I fell foul of is annual travel insurance policies which only allow any 1 trip to be a maximum of 1 month [I now realize that most seem to]. I recently took out such a policy when I was going away for 2 months, but luckily read the details right after paying online and was able to phone them and cancel without penalty.
