With The Living Mountain recognised as a classic, with all her published works back in print and with her image on a £5 note, Nan Shepherd's star burns brightly. This lecture by Alison Lumsden ( Aberdeen University), organised by the North East Mountain Trust, will explore the alternative philosophies of hillwalking presented in The Living Mountain and their relevance to our relationships with the environment. The talk will consider Shepherd's meditations on walking and their impact on her fiction and poems.
