In reply to andy g: Mick can probably tell you more...but yes it'll be hot...there's probably some secret spots high up in the mountains that'll stay cool...

In reply to andy g:

End of May....too hot. Save your money.

November until mid-April is optimum.

Saying that we are experiencing a mini heat wave the last week. It should return to normal....cool soon.

I noticed that it's forecast to rain in Bishop by Thursday 25th which is a bit close to my holiday (29th) for my liking.

How long does rain usually hang around for? Not as bad as the lakes i hope

This time last year, it rained for one day when I was over there, and even then, it dried up quickly enough that we got in an evening's bouldering at the Sads. I wouldn't worry - just treat it as a rest day, or something.

I wish. When it rains people throw street parties in Bishop.

Me....I'm like Mellows the gamekeeper. Strip off and roll in the damp desert dust.

They call it the land of little rain.

You're up early. It must be 5.00 am over there.

I take it we can buy the BBSK II at Eastside sports.

I hear from Steve that we may see you out there too...
 Michael Ryan 16 Mar 2004
In reply to ben stokes:

It is 5 Ben. Yes plenty of BBSK's in Wilsons....plus some new areas to show you.

Meeting Pingham and Tony Mitchell at 8am for a cool early morning session on some sloper problems down the Fish Slough Road.

Indeed Ian. I'm writing an Access round-up for the local newspaper, then pack lunches to make for the kids, then 3 hours bouldering, then continue proofing a 300 page guidebook.

This afternoon. I'm not sure.

Bed by 8pm though.

Ooooh. The eastern sierra guide? How much bouldering will it have?
Ian Hill 16 Mar 2004
In reply to Mick - Rockfax USA: hmmm sympathy...I proof read my way through college...hard work, particularly if you wrote it - you tend not to see as many errors in your own work...

It's a best of: bouldering includes: Bachar Boulders (Chris Fryer full page pic), Deadmans Summit, Happy Boulders, Peabody - Buttermilk, and the Druid Stones. Only the best of these areas. Then there's alpine stuff, lots of sport climbing, trad stuff and ice climbing.

Bishop Bouldering next and Alan has ordered me to do it in color.

I have about five proofers, three of which are either technical writers or English teachers.

Cool: Colour or color is king. Photos of boulders too are ace; a la the free Bishop updates. I used a digicam a for the Portland Cuttings boulderfield guide, which after two years is finally at the proofing stage. Digicams make life so much easier.

Speaking in retrospect really..

Soon hopefully. People are proofing it now. You can have a proof sent to you by email if you like (3.2Mb), bearing in mind it's not quite the finished article...

Just curious, have you climbed there before?
Ian Hill 17 Mar 2004
In reply to ben stokes: went there several years ago a couple of times to do routes and a couple of times more recently to boulder...Phat Slapper a good problem worthy of stars, others much less so
