I was there this morning with an idea to solo the line. There is an amount of ice in place, but it is dripping and creeks. A party climbed the main line whilst i was on another route and seemed to do alright. They (quite sensibly) missed out the top section as it has not fully formed, Given another prolonged cold spell the top section should form creating a route worth doing.
There are a number of smaller icefalls near-by, all of about 5-10m and between grade 3 & 4. All are worth doing if you are in the neighbourhood, though perhaps not worth the walk (the walk across Kinder Scout is quite excellent though) unless your desparate to try out new toys.
