I will hopefully going (for the first time) to Almscliff next week.

So.

a) Take into account it will be the evening so I won't have all day.

b) Climb up to..oooo...about E1 ish maybe

c) I don't think I'll be bouldering

Cheers

Good luck. You'll find Almscliff E1 somewhat different to Ilkley E1.

Anyway...

Fluted Columns VD
Bird's Nest Crack HS
Square Chimney + Whisky Crack MVS
Frankland's Green Crack VS (possibly the best VS I've done on grit)
Overhanging Groove HVS
Z Climb eliminate E1 5b
Black Wall eliminate E2 5c
Wall of Horrors E3 6a

In reply to mark s: Don't talk rubbish!!!!With the right hand finish its superb!!!!

Also worth doing- the vs which steps across from the top of the matterhorn boulder- finishes up whisky crack
The chimney on the right side of high man- just right of the wall, ace fun,
if you want a real struggle the E1 just next to it which traverses left round the face....
and Great Western is well worth it, big holds all the way, superbly steep fun.

The step across from the Matterhorn Boulder is Piggott's Stride (VS), worth doing for sheer novelty value!

Also, Demon Wall (HVS) is superb, with an 'interesting' finish...

In reply to Laurie Rogerson: Great western, overhanging grooves and demon wall. All hvs i think. And maybe franklins cos its so foul, and parsons chimney cos it's a classic.d

Overhanging Groove. One of the best routes on grit. Better (imho) than Great Western.

He has cracked a good no off today with Martin, thought at one time they were competing with Marc C for no of routes done

Ah yes I just remembered that one!

Had a great day there today though (thanks Sutty)

Did a fair few classics, bit too knackered from the other climbs to do Great Western without a rest but I will try it first next time (as opposed to last) - the top out is desperate!!

Square Corner and Whisky Crack was a bit of an awkward number as well!
