UKC News - on 27 Aug 2004
A climber from Gloucestershire survived three nights on Mont Blanc after becoming trapped with a German climber who later died.
Edward Allen, 49, from Fairford, became stranded with the woman, 25, near the summit in a snow storm on Sunday.

In reply to UKC News: Oh dear, that expalins the police helicopter making 2 drop offs at the hospital monday morning, very sad, I was going to go up on sunday myself, as conditions were perfect all day, storm wasn't forcast,(sixth sense?).

it's easy to be wise after the event, but it hammers home the need to make a decision to seek or make shelter sooner rather than later. No comment intended on this tragedy as I don't know the full story
