Scarpa have developed various new technologies including the Armour Gaurd toe protection in the Apex Model and the Cross Bow heel cage which features in the Raptor and Apex XCR.
There are also two new sole types called Trail Grip (5mm lug's and agressive, quick clearing edges and tread pattern) and the Trail Speed sole (4mm lugs with a more light weight running tread pattern). Water proofing is provided courtesy of Gore-Tex XCR in the Apex and Meridian models for all weather excursions.
Basically, you're going to find a model that'll suite your purpose, whether it's a crag shoe or a trail shoe or even down the pub!
