"The pump you get is very different to traditional rock climbing and much more akin to that hand uncurling ache you get ice and mixed climbing. I've already made strength gains using the Figfours and would hope by the end of this season with their help to be climbing a good notch harder than I have before". Ian Parnell

Ice all gone? Want to get training for next season? Figfour is the innovative and award winning specialised training aid for mixed climbing and dry tooling. Designed to allow climbers to accurately replicate the actions of mixed climbing indoors, without damaging the resin holds with the sharp picks found on traditional ice axes. All components of Figfour are bespoke and precision engineered here in the UK, featuring CNC tooled birch plywood shafts, double reinforced rubber loops and custom aluminium fixings.

This niche tool has been designed to be simple to use and maintain and won the prestigious Innovation for Extremes Award in 2009. This award encourages future innovators in the outdoor trade and judging panel member Graham Thompson of Trail magazine commented: "Without out doubt this is one of the most important innovations in outdoor equipment for many years. I expect every climbing wall in the country to have them available for hire alongside rock boots, harness and helmets in the future."

Figfour has undergone intensive testing through the DryIce series in 2009, while Ian Parnell and Andy Turner have both been using them regularly over the winter. "The pump you get is very different to traditional rock climbing and much more akin to that hand uncurling ache you get ice and mixed climbing. I've already made strength gains using the Figfours and would hope by the end of this season with their help to be climbing a good notch harder than I have before". Ian Parnell

While Figfour does not require CE certification we have addressed safety issues by strength testing them on the DMM rig to over 3kN, just to make sure they can stand up to plenty of abuse.
