This post is subject to safer recruitment measures, therefore, please ensure a safer recruitment application form is completed.
Carlton is an important, well established Outdoor Centre and has over the years, delivered curricular based adventurous activity to Primary Schools in the Tees Valley. The operation at Carlton is overseen by a management group made up of a variety of partners and Hartlepool Borough Council is responsible for the strategic management of the site.
As part of an exciting and challenging development programme, we are now seeking an experienced General Manager to change the face of the service – still providing an excellent educational experience for young people at its heart but also with a new focus on commercial viability.
As General Manager, you will be expected to lead change both in infrastructure, operations, community engagement and resourcing with the aim of transforming the Centre into one of the best in the region.
Excellent interpersonal, strong leadership and team building skills are required and the ability to effect change and meet key performance targets. Educated to degree level and with a management or business qualification, successful candidates should be highly motivated, have experience of delivering outdoor activity services, demonstrable management experience and proven commercial awareness. You should be an able communicator, with strong networking skills and will need to be flexible, dedicated and prepared to work occasional unsociable hours.
For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Pat Usher, Sport and Recreation Manager on (01429) 523416.
Application forms and further details are available from and should be returned to Hartlepool Borough Council, Customer & Workforce Services Division, Chief Executives Department, Level 2, Civic Centre, Victoria Road, Hartlepool TS24 8AY.
