La Sportiva Katana Laces £115

A lace up version of the famous Katana shoe, but very different in construction. Several new technical solutions give a higher level of performance to the standard Katana.

The P3 sole insert maintains the downturned shape of the shoe throughout its lifetime, while a tubular construction method inserts the lining between the leather uppers and the rubber rand, a solution which brings together the structural advantages of a lined shoe and the breathability and precision of an unlined shoe.

The tongue is made using a soft and breathable material and the lacing system allows tighter/relaxed sections of the show: all aimed at providing a great overall fit. The Vibram XS Edge sole gives great confidence on small holds.

  • Upper: Combination of suede leather and Lorica
  • Lining: Pacific
  • Midsole: 1.1mm Laspoflex combined with P3 System
  • Sole: Vibram® XS Edge 4 mm
  • Sizes: 33-46 in half sizes
  • Weight: 470g per pair

Evolv Bandit £80

Designed as a responsive shoe for all types of climbing, the Bandit is one of our best selling lace up models, and is the shoe of choice for Evolv sponsored climber Ben Bransby:

“The Evolv Bandits are my first choice of shoe for Grit routes, tradding and Alpine rock. The shoe has a really precise and sensitive feel but the fit is so good that this is achieved without putting my feet through agony. The Bandits are the first shoe I have had with the build quality and finish that gives me the confidence to put them on straight out of the box and go soloing on grit slabs. I like the colour as well!”

The synthetic upper with microfibre lining ensures a comfortable feel next to the skin, while the full length 1.5mm midsole provides an ideal balance of sensitivity and stiffness.

Eco-Trax rubber made from reprocessed pre- and post consumer waste material is co-moulded with high friction XT-5 on the sole unit and rands for maximum friction with minimum impact.

How about an article on budget choices?
    25 Feb, 2011
Mmm, Verde's are £100 on R&R now. Everything's going up hugely, I guess rock shoes aren't exempt!
    26 Feb, 2011
At least 2 shoe suppliers at the Outdoor Show were saying they'd had to keep their price rises below inflation recently, but come March all shoes (from all manufacturers) would be going up £10-15. I guess to avoid just upping the prices of existing shoes, all new releases will just be more expensive and old ones phased out.
