Created in association with the Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists, these free instore one-to-one clinics in association with three of the UK's leading biomechanics specialists events have been designed to help customers learn more about their feet and ensure they receive the best possible footwear advice for the coming winter season.
The clinics take place on Saturday 22nd October at The Climbers Shop in Ambleside with Andrew Stanley and Saturday 12th November at Outside in Hathersage with Gary Gibson and Rob Bradshaw-Hilditch.
Andrew Stanley is based in Settle and has been a biomechanics consultant to the outdoor industry for nearly 15 years. He advises outdoor retailers and regularly writes for outdoor magazines.
Andrew will be on hand to discuss injuries relating to walking, climbing and running (check out http://www.reboundclinic.co.uk for more information) that may be related to your gait - the way you walk and/or run. He will assess your posture and gait and discuss possible biomechanical correction solutions for any presenting condition, advising on footwear and strengthening/flexibility exercises may be appropriate in assisting with your problems.
Gary Gibson and Rob Bradshaw Hilditch both work for the NHS and between them have over 45 years experience in Biomechnics and Rehabilitation. Gary works in a sports injury capacity for Port Vale FC.
Their ongoing work in this field was presented to the BMC International Injuries Symposium in 2010.
Visitors to Outside will receive a thorough 40 minute assessment with an individual biomechanical analysis including a gait assessment, identification of how the foot performs upon ground contact and how any imbalance affects the lower limb and lower spine.
Participants will find out if there is a need for support through insoles, exercises and strengthening to improve foot function and reduce lower limb stresses.
After each clinic, shop and Mammut staff will be on hand to offer customers optional Mammut boot fitting advice.
Free with each fitting - a pair of Bridgedale Trekker Socks
