This two-day course is for anyone wishing to gain the essential skills needed for getting out in the hills of the UK in the snow. During the weekend find out what makes winter so special, how to deal with harsh weather conditions, how to cope with short daylight hours and the essential equipment and skills needed for winter walking. Over these two practical days out you will be putting your skills and equipment to good use.
BMC Winter Mountaineering Essentials

If you're a keen lover of the UK mountains in summer, who doesn't want to let all that 'snow stop play' then this could be the weekend for you. Whatever the weather you'll enjoy two full days out in the mountains. You'll also be amazed how much there is to learn about your footwork in crampons, winter route-finding, avalanche awareness and navigation strategy.
BMC Complete Winter Essentials
Cost and Duration: £430 (5 Days)
This five day course takes you from your first steps in crampons to all round winter confidence. With an action packed practical programme, you'll take in the best venues and conditions that the week can offer. Regardless of snow cover, you will increase your technical skills with ice axe and crampons, learn about avalanche risk and avoidance, safe route choice and winter strategy, and navigation in full winter conditions.
