Jöttnar has one aim: to produce the highest quality technical mountain sports wear in the world.
We are a privately-owned UK company whose Directors and staff are committed and passionate mountaineers and outdoorsmen. Our gear is designed for serious users in serious conditions and our range is aimed squarely at the top end of the market. We are uncompromising in all aspects of quality throughout our operation and our design philosophy is underpinned by exceptional craftsmanship and materials. Our gear is designed to enhance performance in some of the harshest conditions on earth and it meets this challenge through constant design innovation and functionality.
We are seeking an exceptional apparel designer who can meet the challenge of our high performance and ambitious environment with absolute integrity and dedication. This is a home-based role, but you will be available by phone and email throughout office hours and will also expect to spend time with us in physical meetings where design concepts are refined and developed. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate intellect, problem-solving and the design talent to visualise and create solutions for some of the world's most committed and exacting end-users. You must be able to demonstrate exceptional attention to detail in not only your design work but also your administration and general business dealings.
Your experience will offer a multiplying effect to our organisation and you will be required to add value through your industry network as well as your ability to liaise and negotiate with a wide variety of external stakeholders, including suppliers and manufacturers. We would expect you to have an advanced understanding of technical fabrics and construction techniques as well as an intimate knowledge of market trends.
Specific additional duties will include:
• Developing workbook illustrations and technical CAD drawings
• Developing size charts and specifications
• Producing pre-production patterns and samples
• Producing pre-production technical packs
• Leading the development and QC approval process of production prototypes
• Assisting with Product Data Management
• Assisting with the production of marketing material
This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious and innovative designer to work with a highly focussed young UK company. The position will be contract-based initially but with the potential to become a permanent in-house role. While significant demands will be made of you, we guarantee you a professional and rewarding working environment, where your desire for innovation and excellence will be met.
