Professional ice climbers, their amateur counterparts and absolute beginners will meet for the icy event to start off the ice climbing season. You can see top athletes from the climbing scene live in action for three days: Ines Papert, Nico and Olivier Favresse, Markus Bendler, Albert Leichtfried, Dodo Kopold, Klemen Premrl, Andy Houseman, Matt Helliker, Hazel Findlay, David Göttler, Patrick Aufdenblatten and many more. Most of these professional ice climbers will also be holding workshops for beginners and advanced climbers, talking about their adventures and giving valuable tips. Our sponsors will provide all the right equipment.
The open ice climbing competition on Saturday will be the highlight of the festival. As in past years, both amateur ice climbers and top class athletes from throughout Europe will line up to compete against each other. It will be followed in the evening by the sensational floodlit finale. And finally the ice climbing party - a must for all participants and spectators!
With 600 ice climbers expected (including, pleasingly, an ever increasing number of women), spectators and visitors expected to attend, the Ice Climbing Festival is one of the largest international events for ice climbing fans in the Alps. The Ice Climbing Festival continues to be staged thanks to its current and new sponsors and partners.
