Custom Made Maps by Ordnance SurveyCustom Made maps from Ordnance Survey allow you to select a centre point anywhere in Great Britain, choose a scale and then upload your own cover image and title.

Using the renowned quality of the OS Explorer map and OS Landranger map scales, Custom Made maps make a great alternative for walkers or climbers who find that their favourite destination is split across two or more of the traditional map sheets. Being able to add your own cover photo and title makes them really useful as a gift or a memento of a trip. There is even the option to order a flat, coverless version to mount on the wall.

It's quality that counts

While maps are arguably works of art in their own right, they have to be practical aids to discovering and navigating the world. Ordnance Survey Custom Made use the existing OS Explorer 1:25 000 scale or OS Landranger 1:50 000 scale content, which are recognised as the definitive maps for outdoor activities in Great Britain. You can make your custom made map for anywhere in Great Britain.

They are printed on tough and durable Pro geo LC 1 map paper - while not waterproof, they are designed to cope with their typical life of being stuffed in rucksacks, unfolded in high winds or being held down by rocks.

Getting a Custom Made map

It's very easy to order a custom made map online through the Ordnance Survey Shop. Just go to the Custom Made map page, and enter a named location, postcode or grid reference as the centre point (you can also just drag the map around). Then enter the title you want your map to show and choose your front cover image. There are a number of default photographs, but it's much more interesting to upload your own - you will have the chance to edit the photo to ensure it fits the cover.

Custom Maps are normally just £16.99 with free UK delivery. These are not available in the high street, only from the online shop.

There is a current special offer for Christmas, where you can add a Silva compass and map case to a Custom Made map for a total of £25.99, ideal for a 'my first map reading' gift.
