Looking for a climbing trip with a difference? Petzl are inviting climbers to join them on their 2014 RocTrip to Eastern Europe, a great opportunity to visit some stunning climbing areas. 40 days on the road, 5 countries crossed, over 2000 km travelled, 10 basecamps, and over 30 crags and climbing sites visited!
Base camps include Baile Herculane - Romania, Vratsa - Bulgaria, Karlukovo - Bulgaria, Rila - Bulgaria, Meteora - Greece, Athens - Greece, Bafa Lake - Turkey, Geyikbayiri - Turkey and Olympos - Turkey.
The RocTrip will be visiting the best crags at each area throughout the trip including DWS at Olympos, bolt clipping at Geyikbayiri, Meteora and Baile Herculane and bouldering at Bafa Lake.
'Every four or five days, we will move the caravan to a new place, to improvised camping in welcoming villages, to crags and big walls, through the chaos of boulders and deep water soloing spots. We'll go from dense forests, through boulder-strewn deserts to warm, blue seashores. Sometimes we'll take the highway, sometimes an improbable dirt road. In the evening, in an overheated Petzl Film Festival auditorium, or simply around a campfire, we'll all enjoy a presentation by Chris Sharma, Lynn Hill or other Petzl athletes. In the purest spirit of the Petzl RocTrip, this is a climbing adventure not to be missed, open to all, along with local climbers and the entire Team Petzl.Whether you are traveling around on your own, or carpooling, or on the event buses, we we will welcome you each day of this extraordinary odyssey.
For one day - or all five weeks - of climbing! As you choose.
See you soon, in Eastern Europe...'
Erwan Le Lann - Petzl
At every basecamp, you will find all the information related to climbing, local climbers will present the sites and give information on the environment. In particular, you will learn about protected wildlife, access with or without shuttle, specific equipment... These briefings are important and not to be missed!
Choose the period of time that works for you and join the Petzl caravan for one week, two weeks or all 40 days!
