Joe's Golden Nuts Winner! Press Release

Congratulations to Tom Woolgar on winning the signed, framed Joe Brown 50th anniversary print. The image of Joe was taken by Sir Chris Bonington during the live BBC television broadcast of the Old Man of Hoy in 1957.

Tom was picked at random from almost 30 brilliant selfies sent in to UK Climbing as a result of the now legendary Hunt For Joe’s Golden Nuts. Joe himself, even received calls from friends informing him of his metallic tackle being scattered around the crags of Britain which tickled him no end.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the hunt, to our friends at UK Climbing, DMM and finally to all our staff team in Wales and Rob Greenwood in the Peak who made sure all of Joe’s Golden Nuts were placed on his altars of greatness.

The summer of trad is now over but our 50 year celebrations aren’t over yet……..

Stay tuned for our upcoming Christmas competition when even more unique, historical equipment will be up for grabs!

I'm sure I can remember watching that live broadcast but I would have been less than one year old in summer 1957. Are you sure it wasn't 1967?

It was in July 1967, if it had been 57 it would be the 60th anniversary
