Hiya,
These are Tibetan Snowcock (Tetraogallus tibetanus), Chukars are much smaller, about the size of a partridge.

Thanks Hiya, that is definately the one. They were lovely birds and such a size that anywhere where meat was eaten they would have been rearing them for food.
